For instance, shifting from GDP growth to wellbeing economies—where policies prioritize ecological limits, equity, and quality of life—can reshape the economic system to support long-term sustainability.

Our slogan is a provocation to rethink how we imagine and construct the future. In a world marked by deepening inequalities, ecological crises, and political uncertainty, future-proofing demands critical engagement with power, historical legacies, and the socio-material conditions that shape vulnerability and possibility. Our work interrogates whose futures are being secured, by whom, and at what cost.

Based at The King’s University in Edmonton (AB, Canada), STAR Hub is an open and inclusive platform—welcoming sustainability practitioners, researchers, and changemakers across disciplines, institutions, and geographies.
STAR Hub is a catalyst for sustainability transformation. While we initiate and lead our own research and projects, a core part of our mission is to identify synergies and amplify aligned efforts led by others.
For local actors in Edmonton and Alberta, we offer a bridge to a broader, global community committed to co-creating a more sustainable future.
